Well, it's day 7 and it's been a massive week of fun, learning and making friends. Sharing this experience with the other Rylarians has enabled us to form some really close friendships in a short amount of time. I remember on the second day we were talking and sharing parts of our lives that we normally keep fairly private and someone reminded us that we'd only known each other for 36 hours. We were all amazed as we felt like we'd known each other for years! The teamwork exercises showed us all how to cooperate better. The public speaking I found really helpful and it enabled me to challenge myself to actually speak at the Gala dinner and I conquered my nerves. The most valuable thing that I will take from this week is some extra confidence. I've done things this week that I would never do with people that I've only just met. RYLA creates this really supportive environment where nobody is judging you because we're all in the same boat. I would recommend attending RYLA to anyone who is within the age groups. It was fantastic! So much so that I almost don't want to leave!
